You wont regret it (by TheChampReview) |
When i saw the previews for this film i was underwhelmed and brushed it under the rug, disturbed at them trying to top 300 after Clash of the Titans came out. I must admit i was pleasantly surprised. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this film from beginning to end. Tarsem knew exactly what he wanted and its evident in every shot. The cinematography was magnificent, the set design was superb and the costumes were just gorgeous. The fight scenes were definitely impressive and left me mumbling "yeah" and "that what im talking about" under my breath. Henry Cavill did a <more> |
Underrated, loved it. (by Ropi_00) |
It's quite rare that a movie i like has got so many bad reviews from IMDb-user database. Imo this was one of the best movies this year, if not the best. Yes, Immortals gives a different image of Greek-mythology gods but don't be so close minded. Action scenes are unique, story ain't that bad, acting is great and the movie ain't boring or too long. If you compare Immortals 75m$ budget with for example Twilight Saga: Breaking dawn 127m$ budget, see the difference? i'd recommend it to anyone who is into this kind of movies, way better than Clash Of The Titans and nearly as <more> |
no other movie on Greek mythology made so huge impression on me (by skymus) |
Our family friend recommended "Immortals" as the best mythology movie ever. Friday after Thanksgiving my darling and I went to the AMC theater to watch it in 3D.During my school years I have read a lot about Greek gods and next day after watching the movie I picked up the myth book to refresh it... the Olympic Games, honoring gods, were named after Mount Olympus. On the top of it all powerful Zeus sat on a golden throne and ruled other gods and humans with his cord of gold. The myths, legends and sanctuaries of the Greeks celebrated their gods."Immortals" directed by <more> |
Dripping wet with testosterone . . . a 'chick flick' it is not. (by selarom-yar) |
Read the reviews, the good, the bad and the ugly. I just don't understand why people are ripping at this delightful movie. Yeah, the male testosterone is oozing through out the movie and you come out after watching it just dripping with it, but it is not a "300". The reason why I gave it a 9 out of 10 is that it is truly, truly entertaining. If you are going to see it because you are looking for another "300", you are going to get some of it, but not all of it.Is it a "300" want a bee? It is for you to go and see it for yourself, and you will be pleasantly <more> |
don't see why everyone is being so nitpicky about the movie (by JenTreven) |
First of all, I'm currently doing a degree in History and classics. I really do not understand why people get so annoyed about when characters in movies about the Greek gods are not 'true' to previous representations. For a start there are always more than one version of a Greek heroes story. that he was the son of a king is one, another is that his mother was raped by Poseidon in human form of course, so could have been a 'villager' like in the movie and that he was brought up be his grandfather like his mentor in the movie so actually it's not that far removed, <more> |
The Gods Chose Well (by alonreg) |
I came to this movie expecting a 300 sequel. In the trailer I saw a lot of similarities, which I was glad about because I liked 300 a lot. The result was a classic and epic movie. The movie has great fights, cool slow-motion scenes, and surprisingly good dialogs. The movie was shown in 3D. I'm not a big fan of that, but it fitted okay, and seemed fine. The special effects were awesome, and very delightful. Another thing I would like to add, is that the movie has more depth then it seems from the trailer. I suggest you go to the movie if you liked 300, and if you like the style that is <more> |
Average story with extremely entertaining results (by aqashem) |
I went to this movie on a whim and because my friends pushed me to it. I have to say that I did not regret going. The story plays out well throughout with some rushed character development and cut corners in storytelling. However, the direction was top notch, the visuals were beautiful, and the casting was even better. Mickey Rourke did an amazing job as King Hyperion, the villain you love to hate. The thing that excited me the most about this movie is how well the action and fight scenes were choreographed. I always choose story over action when it comes to films but this movie far exceeded <more> |
Entertaining and visually stunning. (by thefilmgourmet) |
First of all I would like to say all that CGI is here to stay and IT IS going to get more and more prevalent ! Also it is getting much better by day and this film has used it gorgeously. Visuals, art and costumes are stunning. Then there is the story, I think the plot of the story was very clear unlike many other people think yet it could have been fleshed out a lot better. Although I agree that this was the weakest part of this film, all-round it was good enough for me to don't really care about it. Also, try to consider immortals as a self contained story rather than a true reflection of <more> |
Gods, Fighting, Villains! (by garethok) |
First off, I'm a big fan of the classic mythologies. But this film isn't about that. Its a slow burner to start, but once the action starts, boy does it ramp up! The cast, I must admit is so-so except for Rourke as Hyperion - really bad ass . However, if you want a film with fighting, minimal passion, bad deeds and high fantasy... well its hard to find a more suitable candidate.I recommend you go see this, not with the cliché'd open mind, but with a mind closed into a fist that your going to pummel wrong doers everywhere with! Go forth... and Fight! |
