Brilliant gem from WANGO some slight spoilers (by ruairisean) |
I originally came to this film because of the lovely Ms Isabelle, the summary was a little off putting. However the film itself kept me with it the entire time, even with the different time-lines going on it had a solid flow. Isabelle was amazing as she tends to be, Tim Doiron as Ty was one of the highlights of the film, his character was just so endearing somehow. April Mullens character was genius, the maniacal nature of her performance added to the theme of the film and the setting, and provided a little levity in an intense scene. So, strong acting, believable characters. Great storyline, <more> |
loved it . (by salman_ahmed2) |
i don't know whether its Katherine acting or what but she saves the movie from falling off .the police was just way too dumb in the whole scenario being made look bad .other than that i liked the movie and you will love the end.the whole movie has got twists .some are good and some are way off . my favorite was of course the one in the end .****spoiler alert***** : in which Gwen gets the flashback that she was actually the killer of her lover .she did it by accident .also in the case of waitress getting shot in the beginning it was also by chance but you can blame Cyrus in the sense that <more> |
Excellent film from a talented team (by dr2red) |
I watched this film at the recent Niagara Falls Comic Con. I was instantly drawn into the strange world of Flamingo/Gwen. I don't want to give away the story but it was very engrossing and with enough twists and turns for a top notch ending. The beginning is not the beginning the end is not the end but the beginning. The acting was topnotch with Catherine Isabelle and Christopher Lloyd in a challenging roles. Beautifully filmed in the Niagara area of Ontario on a short film schedule. There is nothing unnecessary in this film. No filler no fluff. I have to commend the filmmakers and <more> |
this bitch is beleavable.. (by dfsdsdfas) |
..you know when someone tries to play a psychopathic stonecold killer and everything looks like pretending? nothing to worry about here. the poster gives it no justice, not cheap, not corny. it's stylish and dirty - nice to look at but not staged. the psychotic breaks are beleavable and the flashbacks interesting, not confusing. wasn't sure if she would pull it of, cause from my first impression the storyline, the poster.. it didn't really give me much - but there were no bad parts for me in it, every character fit to the story.a lot of dead bodies, no shortcoming of blood..but <more> |
Good movie & very strong performance from Katherine Isabelle (by miller_ray) |
88 starts with our main character lost and confused in a diner, and through multiple story threads we find out how she got there and where she is going. That's all I want to say about the story, because the less you know the more I think you'll enjoy the movie.I thought 88 had a very "Memento-ish" feel to it, in that by design the viewer is very disoriented and along the way you gather information along with the main character until the inevitable "aha" moment and climax. I thought the pacing was great, the actors did a terrific job, and while I have no idea what <more> |
FIVE CHEESEBURGERS AND MILK (by nogodnomasters) |
88 is a smart original Canadian film, words I never thought I would never put in the same sentence. The opening of the film defines "Fugue State" which is a type of amnesia which creates a separate personality, normally triggered by a traumatic event. Gwen Katharine Isabelle has had such an event as her boyfriend has been killed in front of her. She turns into the cold heartless, no filter Flamingo. Flamingo is a killer while Gwen is not. She attempts to unravel what has happened and believes Cyrus Christopher Lloyd killed him.Flamingo in her new personality doesn't <more> |
