I wasn't too sure about watching this movie because I read one review here on IMDb saying that wasn't so good but my instinct told me to watch it.Jesse Metcalfe acting was great, after watching and following desperate housewives I wasn't aware that he was going after the big screen, I'm amazed in how well he play his character, I hope to see him more often in other movies; same for Erika Christensen, her acting was great too, very intense and real from my point of view.The movie take you on a ride of emotions from the beginning to the end, I was able to feel the pain of the <more>

What a movie!! From start to finish this was awesome. You get dragged in and feel as though you share the pain of the parents.Acting was top notch and the story was brilliant. Put me in the parents situation and id of done the same! For all torture movie fans this is definitely a thumbs up..If your more into crappy acting and a little bit of nastiness.... Don't WATCH THIS! This movie was somewhat of a surprise to me. If you liked the "Saw" movies, then you will love this movie. Sure "Saw" has a lot of really cool contraptions, but that is about it. "The Tortured" is far more intense and brutal compared to "Saw". that is about as much as I will reveal of the story.The cast in the movie is phenomenal, and I sat down to watch it because I saw Bill Moseley was on the cast list. And he does a tremendous work in the movie, though he is not the one actually carrying the movie. The performances of Jesse Metcalfe playing Craig Landry and Erika Christensen playing Elise Landry were the ones who carried the movie and brought it home. At first I had to get used to Erika Christensen's acting, but it quickly grew on me, and I found her to be well-suited for the role.A word of advise though. The movie contains scenes of strong, graphic violence and may not be suitable for minors and those with faint hearts. If you thought "Saw" were brutal, then wait till you have seen "The Tortured". I was literally cringing in my seat several times. The torture scenes are very graphic and it is almost like being there yourself, they were just that well pulled off.And the ending, well there is a very unseen twist towards the end. I am not spoiling it here, but trust me, it was a very unforeseen turn of events.What made this movie work so well for me, was the brutality of the movie, the way it was shot, and how the characters shined through on the screen. In my opinion, "The Tortured" outshines the "Saw" movies by a lot! I won't give away any spoilers here, but this movie was a roller-coaster ride of emotions.It's about a little boy that was kidnapped/tortured/abused/killed - and then it's the parents time to get justice.I know everyone would say that if someone killed their child, they would kill them, well it's along that mindset. i really enjoyed watching horror thrilled movies, that's why when i saw that the producer of the "SAW" created another one thats "the tortured", i decided to watched that film. at first i'm not so sure if this film have what i expected, but i'm surprised it was. the plot is not really fantastic anyway because it has a typical horror thrilled film that there is a psycho guy waiting someone to kill, but i'm surprised that the parents revenge for their kid who killed by the psycho guy and they were the one who tortured the killer, how smart is that! and in the <more>
last part of the movie they found out that they were tortured the wrong guy. i so sad because that wrong guy killed himself and left the message says that "i'm not that man who killed your son" and they found out that the real one is alive and caught by the police. how sad : well that the story we can't do anything about it.. but still i'm recommended this film to those people who want to watch thrill movie but with story. congrats to the one who made this film.

ONLY MINIMAL SPOILERS:I was surprised by how low the reviews were for this film because I loved it! Admittedly it was watched at midnight in pitch black with a lot of squeamish friends which made it more enjoyable but I still thought the film was great.Storyline: kid gets kidnapped, parents seek revenge. I thought the parents were good and believable especially as I have seen the dad play very different roles in other films. The ending is what makes the film so great because it comes as such a surprise and leads to a lot of what ifs as you try put yourself in their position...I would not recommend looking up the ending because I don't think the film would have half as much impact if you knew the twist.
