Very underrated horror, not scream bloody gore type (by BignProud) |
First of all, it is very difficult to make an adult scared, really scared in a movie when you are surrounded by other people ; just watch it home along and that would be the real rate .. and frankly I would not. Anyway, decided to change London has fallen to this one instead and what a surprise it was ! I can not say it is a masterpiece but it is very solid horror movie that - I am so surprised no one mentioned this before - so heavily reminds of Stephen King's Pet Cemetery. There is no stupid screams that make you jump because it is just loud or blood splashing all over the screen. No, <more> |
Excellent (by dvnnvd) |
In my opinion this is up there with one of the best horror films so far this year. I genuinely enjoyed watching this and thought it was gripping throughout. It has a few excellently timed jump scenes that work really well. The overall storyline is fantastic and intriguing, the film keeps you gripped throughout and the atmosphere throughout is great.I especially like how the film is set in India and so we get a whole new twist/view of the horror concept mixed with another culture.I've seen Sarah Wayne Callies in Prison Break before, but she was outstanding in this!I'm fairly critical of <more> |
This is Not a 5+ Horror Movie (by politehere) |
It is rare for horror movies to be this good, so I really don't understand what the low rating is for.The cinematography, acting, atmosphere and music score were perfect. They had tried to employ a lot of jump scares, but only two or three of them really got me. The Japanese type evil ghost, which was supposed to make us terrified and jump out of our seats, didn't really work for me. Either it's because my eyes were aching while watching this movie or it's because I found it to be distracting for its belonging to Japanese horror movies. The best jump scare scenes were those <more> |
I've seen a lot worse (by km-daykin) |
I've read a lot of bad reviews slating this movie, I get why. Don't go into this movie expecting a great horror movie, it's not really a horror. It is however a really good tragedy which is portrayed using a medium of creepy devices. If you leave this movie and all you have is 'lame jump scares', you're missing the point of the story. If you're considering watching this, do it, it's worth the 1 hour 35. Each of the actors does a pretty stand up job, the direction and photography went well, my only gripe would be the editing. The flow of the story looked like it <more> |
Reminded me of Pet Cemetery (by jcm2871) |
I enjoyed this movie. It had what a horror movie should have, nothing more , nothing less. However the story did remind me of Pet Cemetery where there is a tragic loss of a young male child and the parent is so grief stricken they will do anything to see them again. Even if it means horrible things will occur because of their actions. Being a parent myself I could relate to the main character and how she felt she needed closure after such a terrible accident which took her son. I was familiar with the actress from the Walking Dead series so I knew she would deliver. The little girl also does <more> |
Its themes will linger with you much longer than any other supernatural horror this year. (by jordanhuntgeneral) |
Prison Break's Sarah Wayne Callies carries this British-Indian horror production with the same demeanour as her more familiar role; maternal enough to sell the film's major theme, yet strong enough to carry the entire feature. This, after all, is what Callies is tasked with, as the grieving mother she portrays invites her dead son's spirit back to the world of the living with inevitably chilling consequences. While the majority of studio horror nowadays is bound by so many stipulations - the jump scares, the teenage cast demographics - that ultimately render it generic, The Other <more> |
