Exciting film with nothing objectionable (by doxaman) |
If you want intrigue with action and elements of just plain fun, then the Omega Code is your movie. The Atlanta Constitution-Journal said that it was a James Bond film without any of the immoral parts. Those who are heavy into "religion" will probably hate it and strongly object. Those who want a good time, a great show, and something that could be life-changing should go see it. It will make you think and could wake you up from the drugged slumber in which so much of television and film can keep you these days. It is the only film I have ever had the privilege of seeing that left <more> |
My enjoyment was great and my expectation matched. (by Sugar-32) |
This was a tremendous work presenting a new kind of Biblical thriller. It kept me on the edge of my seat and when it ended left me longing for more. Special effects are well placed and well done enhancing key moments. Momentum builds as the stage is set for a millenial ride of a lifetime. Highly recommended whether you believe implied content or not - entertainment value surpasses any reason not to see the film. |
Long Overdue! A breathe of fresh air for Christians and Non-Christians alike! (by techmom) |
Hollywood has long forgotten how to make a movie that can be exciting, thought provoking and interesting without foul language or extreme gore. Hopefully Omega Code has lifted many eyebrows, and given Hollywood a wake up call that a movie can be good without being vulgar.I have seen a few reviews bashing this film, but the sites that list the negative reviews never reference the positive reviews like the ones from CNN, USA Today, The New York Times or Time. Why? Is it because they can not fathom that a quality film could be made on a $7.2 million budget from a young company? Is is because <more> |
How divided people are on this one (by JKearse) |
One of the most interesting aspects of this film is how divided people feel about it. Most people either love it or hate it. There is little in between. I fall into the group that loved it. Yes, it's true, Casper Van Dien is a little inconsistent. When he's good, he is very good, but sometimes he is less than adequate. He is more often good. Catherine Oxenberg is believable in a fairly standard role. Michael Ironside gives a very nice performance in a difficult role; difficult because his role, Dominic, was not well conceived, but he overcomes this problem beautifully. The casting <more> |
True to the texts from which it was taken, thrilling, but lacking in some aspects... (by jesse-69) |
I found this movie impressive. It remained true to the book of Revelations and true to human behavior. I was, however, disappointed in some of the special effects, and the methods used to depict the story. I expected to see explosive, earth shattering depictions of the tragedies that the bible describes in the rise and fall of the anti-christ. Instead the majority of what we see is the inner turmoil surrounding Casper Van Dien's character, and not the turmoil the entire world is supposedly going through. I feel the production team did not adequately convey the chaos and tragedies that <more> |
it's a Christian thing an atheist wouldn't understand (by katt101) |
Most of the reviews here seem to be written by Godless mockers who are just trying to be smart *sses. Although in order to make it interesting the movie has added a bunch of junk about computer "codes" the movie really does seem to do a good job following Biblical prophecy. Hal Lindsey who is a well known expert on biblical prophecy was an adviser. First read the book of Daniel then read the Book of Revelation. By the way this movie has nothing whatsoever to do with Nostradamus. The movie would have been better if the sequel Meggido had been bundled with it. Thats really all I have <more> |
Entertaining thriller (by msecour) |
This film is much better than the severest critics give it credit for. It is not great, but if you allow yourself to ignore the Christian Right agenda, it is a rather entertaining tale. Films have a long tradition of exploiting biblical phenomena, and people have been entertained by such stories for years. The Exorcist, The Omen, and Raiders of the Lost Ark come to mind. Even the use of a crucifix to scare off vampires is well established. I think too many people are hung up by the fact that this film was intended to support a specific agenda -- the Fundamentalist interpretation of biblical <more> |
He won't be "Michael Who?" after this! (by Watcher-45) |
Our local movie guru who's famous for reciting entire scenes from memory can't even picture Michael York. It's October 19th, three days after the big Omega Code debut. And what a debut it was! The post-weekend review of Omega was not unlike the pre-debut pans, ranting about violence and misinterpretations of the Biblical story, etc. Hard for me to believe, since the lame "Noah" thing with John Voight and Mary Steenburgen was embraced by the media even though it was sickeningly violent and so far from the original story as to be ridiculous. I get mad every time I think <more> |
A very unusual film with great photography and special effects. (by kz-2) |
To understand this film more fully a fair knowledge of the Book of Revelation from the Bible, would be useful. It concerns a prophecy of the end times, an evil world leader and his attempt to dominate world governments and to rule the earth. It is a very intense drama with lots of action, intrigue, car chases, and suspense. The action takes place in three major cities, Los Angeles, Rome and Jerusalem, Israel. The clever camera angles and locations gave a fresh appearance to these popular film locations. The night time sequences were especially good. This film had a fresh approach to movie <more> |
