I think we are all familiar with the LEGO Movies by now, the successful and really good the LEGO Movie, everyone loves It and everyone has praised It to be one of the best animated films out there, then LEGO Batman Movie came along and become the best Batman film In years and In my debatable opinion the best of all the LEGO Movies, even If there Is just two.But now there Is a third LEGO Movie coming from one of their most popular brands, Ninjago, I remember collecting these sets from Ninjago back In 2010 and watching half of the TV Show, It was good for what It was but now I think It's <more> just generic and the sets were above average but still I liked Ninjago. When I heard the next LEGO Movie was about Ninjago I was pretty excited, until recently upon It's US release before we In the UK got It yesterday and received well rather.... mixed reviews, I did grab me attention like how Kingsman: The Golden Circle did, both are next Movies In their franchise and are pretty mixed upon critics, when I was going Into this movie, I still had a open mind but at the same I was pretty nervous, I saw the film twice, one was a early preview and one was one day after It's official UK release which Is today.First viewing of the film was.... good, I liked the movie, It was fun, the animation's great as always, It's funny, It has good voice acting, got some good characters but nowhere near as clever or self aware as the other two, however second screening I liked It a little more then I though from the first time.I'll start with what I liked, first the animation Is just great always, It's fast-paced, It looks like real LEGO, everything Is great, well mostly, not everything Is made out of LEGO here, LEGO Batman did the same, with the fire and water, the first one EVERYTHING was made of LEGO, In Ninjago there's leafs, grass, water, trees, a house and a bridge, there's nothing wrong with It, It just felt a little out of place, I know It's supposed to feel like a kid playing with these but the first has every single thing made out of LEGO, making It stand out, this just feels playing with toys. The plot was straight forward but had a uniqueness to It, with father and son story, where one Is the antagonist and other Is the protagonist and they both have to work together to stop the evil that Is taking over Ninjago, yeah It's just... that, at least the other movies had a funny, clever and touching execution to their stories, this one does as well and It's done good, It's just predictable and really obvious, nothing wrong with that, as long as there Is surprises here and there, this movie doesn't have much of that, even the humour can be kinda hit and miss. The characters are passable, slightly better then they were In the show, even though I haven't seen the rest of the show, I still have questions for this film that I think can have a little more time to focus on which I won't because that would contain spoilers, I like the relationship between Lloyd and Garmadon, It's a father-son relationship that's hateful turned caring, the other characters don't really do much besides Master Wu and Koko, but their just.... there, I like Kai and Nya the most, while the rest are meh...So I'm the end I like this movie perfectly fine, It has great animation, good storytelling and good characters, but It's just... not as brilliant as the other two, It's better then the Emoji Movie, Smurfs: the Lost Village and Boss Baby I'll give ya that, but there are better family films out for sure.So first screening I would of given this a 7.1/10, but now that I have seen It twice, I'll give It a 8.8/10. <less> |
