Wow! This movie is going to do well. I kept waiting for the typical Hollywood formula but it never happened. I went into it with mixed expectations, first I figured it would be another low budget piece of crap with an interesting premise, and second I figured it could be an excellently executed production and script because Ray Liotta never backs a movie that he doesn't fully believe in, and I have learned to trust his judgement. My second expectation proved to be correct. This movie really is a glimmer of light in a sea of formulaic garbage. Everything was accomplished with the <more>
perfectionism I have come to expect from a Ray Liotta project. It is both timely and extremely plausible with the originality you would expect from a Hollywood that disappeared seventy years ago.If you are a true fan of cinema like me I highly recommend this movie.
I just saw this film and I am impressed, it's great 10/10
Excellent Ray Liotta film (by sespinda)
Moviegoers are all familiar with Ray Liotta's work. This is right up there with Heartbreakers, etc. You won't be disappointed, you will be left satisfied in finding yet another great Liotta film.
Nice work (by lookwhosknocking)
I watched this film with the fear that I was going to encounter yet another budget movie thrown together with a loose plot and mediocre acting. Well, needless to say, I was proved wrong on all counts. The background story was built up nicely and the plot laid out for you to see clearly, but then it twists and makes you think, then twists again making you doubt your theories of what is really going on. Liotta, Garber and McHattie were brilliant and worked perfectly together. I wouldn't mind seeing this trio working together in the future. Dustin Milligan was a surprisingly competent and <more>
believable actor which was a breath of fresh air as I don't recall ever seeing him in film before now. All in all a very good thriller/suspense that kept me entertained. Give it a watch is all I can say, hope this helps!
NEED TO DO SOMETHING ON FRIDAY NIGHT.. (by nogodnomasters)
Kevin Zegers plays Paul Dynan a struggling young man who can't make ends meet due to hard times and an ailing mother. But he has a plan...kidnap 3 spoiled rich kids with no likeable qualities and ransom them for money. He found two people who are a little psychotic to help him. They turn out to be wild cards in Paul's grand scheme. There is some first person narration by Paul in the beginning to describe his situation, but it ceases as the movie progresses. The movie touches on themes of anarchy and class warfare. Decent acting, well written.F-bomb, no sex, no nudity.
Everything Trespass wasn't (by cmoyton)
So i rubbished the River Murders - and rightly so but here Ray Liotta puts in a good performance in a supporting role and he is not alone. One of the many positives about The Entitled is to the top class acting from all involved. For a relatively low budget affair it also boxes above its weight for production values.Of course kidnapping/blackmail plots are a dime a dozen but this could teach others how to play it through to a satisfying end. The main character role is played by Kevin Zegers and his performance is excellent. The viewer can never be sure of his agenda until the final third of <more>
the movie. He recruits a couple of chip on their shoulders uber disgruntled psychopathic students to help him kidnap some fellow students of the spoilt rich variety. Once the plan is realised the story alternates between the kidnap location and one of the parents houses where the fathers are awaiting their offspring for a get together.Red herrings are cleverly introduced through the dialogue between the worried and eventually bickering parents. No histrionic acting, take the paycheck performances or paper thin plot stretched out for 90 minutes here.
This is a first rate kidnap thriller. Made more intriguing by the fact that the movie seems to advocate that rightness is on the side of the kidnapper. An apparently caring young male with problems including a very sick mother et al decides to kidnap three spoilt brat "entitled" privileged college kids. They are the offspring of three fairly repulsive rich and undeserving businessmen....The kidnapper has accomplices who also have an agenda. This film races along with pace and excitement and in my opinion the acting and production is top notch.Of course there may be some holes in the <more>
plot but who cares as this picture is highly entertaining and almost believable; it had me engrossed throughout.8/10.
