frightening. Horror movies these days tend to be tongue in cheek in an effort to pander to the jaded crowd. The Devil Inside is dark and takes itself seriously...which is probably why people didn't get it.

I had goosebumps throughout most of the movie.Some people tend to "force" themselves or psych themselves out so they don't get too scared but I on the other hand love to do that to myself. So if you really want to get the full effect of this movie I suggest watching it at home, alone or with a select few, in the dark and I promise no disappointment.I gave this movie a 10 not because it was a "perfect" 10. 10 means excellent is the IMDb rating scale and this movie was just that.

this film by not just critics because they are PAID to have an opinion but the viewers and audience members were really mad about the ending. Needless to say that almost kept me from going to see this movie. This movie was in no way deserving of the negative and harsh reviews people are giving it. It seriously upsets me that good films are thrown in the trash because of ignorant people that have no business reviewing horror films. It is true that there are loose ends in this film. Like for instance the fact that they are in Italy and all the priests she hangs out with are English speaking with no accents, they do not take the time to develop the characters in a detailed degree and they don't even attempt to explain a lot of things that lead them through the plot. It is true, this film leaves a lot of questions unanswered. How is that something to be mad about? This is a horror movie, they are aiming to scare you, to shock you, to disgust you, they don't have to explain ANYTHING! In all reality the things that you don't see and the things they don't explain are usually the things that end up sticking with you the longest. For instance in the Blair Witch, we don't know what happens at the end really do we? All we see is dude standing up against the wall and then chick gets knocked out. We don't KNOW what happened. We THINK we know what is GOING to happen. THAT IS WHAT MAKES IT SCARY. NOT KNOWING IS SCARY! COMING UP WITH YOUR OWN TWISTED CONCLUSION IS ALWAYS FAR SCARIER THAN ANYTHING THAT ANOTHER PERSON CAN SHOW YOU IN A FILM. That is where knowing stops and imagination begins. We are as an American audience that is so used to having information spoon fed to us that we cannot invest any time actually thinking or investigating something. Idiots. That is what all you low-balling one star rating people are. IDIOTS.This movie has several wonderful scare scenes. My girlfriend crushed my hand during the first exorcism scene. That girl moved her body like she was truly possessed. Totally freaked us out when period blood started spewing from her crotch. Another cool part was when the demon finally left her and her entire body flew up in the air. Man.....that was awesome. Another sweet part was the part with the priest and the baptism of the baby. Dude. I did not think they would really have dude try to kill a baby in the movie. THEY WENT THERE. Not many horror movies go there just out of courtesy to the audience. This movie is like a honey badger it doesn't give a sheet. Oh yeah, it has priest drown a baby in a baptismal. Very shocking. VERY DISTURBING. Especially when he stares into the lens of the camera as he does it. That gave me nightmares. The part when the priest comes back to the house and what happens is really scary. One more thing before I end this rant. THE ENDING MADE SENSE YOU IDIOTS NEED TO WATCH THE MOVIE AGAIN. Yes it was very abrupt and we weren't expecting them to die like that but they did. The end result of the film gave me a feeling of absolute defeat. This group of demons were so powerful, they didn't stand a chance. Think back to the moment when the one priest is possessed and the other one is telling that priest that he can overcome these demons and stop them from killing them. He just cries and cries and says he can't and eventually blows his brains out right after delivering a line that gave me goosebumps. You know this movie was good. You just didn't like the ending because it wasn't a blockbuster grand finale of special effects that climaxes like a pig coming for the last thirty minutes. Stop crying, go wipe your crack and watch the movie again.The only part that I would have changed would be like some of you other legit horror fans have said making the mothers role a little bit more involved with the plot or even bringing her back at the end. She is the focus of the movie and the way the plot ends up directed towards the daughter and the priests and move away from the original story just confuses people and it irritates them and irritated audience members usually end up drawing unfair conclusions at the end of the film and give it crappy reviews because they didn't pay attention to the movie because they were irritated at the beginning. They should have thought about that. Plus, I thought she was amazing as an actress. She blew me away during that initial meeting scene when she starts talking about the aborted baby and screams at Isabella. That scene alone should make you guys really think about what you are saying when you give this movie a one star rating! I honestly think you people have no love for the horror genre and have no business talking crap about this movie. Shut up.:

scenes after injecting a woman with a sedative about to be exorcised, he angrily says to the camera something to the effect of "the system keeps these people locked up, they pump them full of drugs." Irony? Oh, and it's not limited to religion, the humor hits on filming, sexuality, etc... For instance, one of the priests says to the camera man "did you see that?!" To which he replies, "see it? I filmed it!" And again, later the priest says to the camera man, "haven't you been listening at all?" The obvious joke is, of course he is listening he's the darn camera man, lol. And again, while watching the horrifying exorcism of her mother how did they get the equipment into the asylum? lol on video, the main character says rather curiously, "let's watch it again." Lol, her own mother, she should be in tears!!! And again, the priest Dan says after a particularly frightening film session, "We are so lucky!" as in, to have the opportunity to do the work they love, but you'd expect a more reserved reaction. Another Dan quote, they are working on exorcism knowing that the church will excommunicate them if they are found out, "I could lose my job over this!" He's worried about his job and not the evil monsters lurking. I dunno, you have to assume that everything is true since it's documentary style but also allow your mind to wander into the joke world. I thought it was very well done and the people who didn't get it weren't laughing at the end. I would recommend this movie to those who can't turn off the mechanism in their brain that finds humor in everything while still tracking the continuity of the movie from a documentary perspective. And yes, I was the only one of 30 or so in the theater who laughed the whole way.

and I saw all the negative reviews, I immediately lowered my standards. This movie did not disappoint.This is not a big budget thriller. If you want another cheesy movie with hot naked girls running away from serial killers, go watch Hostel. It may not be strikingly original, but I found the tone to be very scary. If you want to see the another Academy Award worthy film with amazing dialogue and special effects, go see something else. It is very rare that a movie gets my adrenaline going. You have to remember that this is supposed to be a documentary that takes place in the time span of a couple months, not a narrative about someone's life. You have to use your imagination to get into the style of film. I guess some people don't have imaginations anymore. I found the jump scenes to be quite frequent and valid to the story, although one jump scene with a dog comes at a random time in the movie, and has nothing to do with the storyline. There is more gore than I anticipated, which is a plus. I feel like they fit it into the movie very well. Senseless, randomly placed gore in a film shows me that the creators are trying too hard. The special effects were not overdone. The exorcism scenes were quite disturbing, unlike what others may be saying.The story takes a turn when after the exorcism of the lead role Isaballa's mother, the demons transfer to the priest, and eventually Isabella. I guess people are interpreting this as a hole in the story or something, but I thought it was a great turn.Summary: I'm extremely picky on horror movies, I find most to be either over done or really generic. This one got me. I am a fan of the style of film, although some people are not. This movie will receive low ratings because it's not The Sixth Sense or Insidious, but will end up with a good cult following, seeing as some people do actually care to have a good thrill. If you like Blair Witch, I'd highly recommend this movie. I was NOT disappointed.

movies. Turning heads, spider-walking down the stairs...we have all seen them. Before this film, most exorcism flicks just focused on these traits. None of them really discussed the religious aspect in terms of the Roman Catholic Church. I commend "The Devil Inside" for doing this. It really revealed the true inner feelings of the Church on exorcism, especially in today's society. Some people are separated in the idea of exorcism, even the religious people and this film did a great job in conveying this confusion and conflicting views. Mental illness is the panacea diagnosis, but there may be something more. Honestly, I am not a very big fan of the hand-held camera style. But this movie, overall, did a great job with handling this style. Yes, there were spots where the camera was a little shaky, but it's a given with these kinds of movies. The camera was almost always on the action that was happening at the moment. It didn't try to trick the audience by moving the camera somewhere else while there is a mêlée happening just outside the view of the camera. The fake-documentary style is one of my favorites, mainly because of "The Last Exorcism".Overall, the plot was very well planned. It was quite an original plot with a unique twist on multiple-demonic possessions. I thought that the plot flowed and didn't drag in any spots. All speaking parts fit in with the action and all discussions explained important aspects necessary to understand the movie. All in all, this is one of the scariest movies I have seen. Everyone in the movie theater was on the edge of their seats. Yes, the ending was a bit disappointing, but the cliff-hanger was a great way to end this movie. This is a kind of movie that if it ended on a good note, it would have ruined the mood of the whole movie. That shroud of mystery was a perfect touch. I found the ending words that "the case is still being investigated" to be a little cheesy, which is why I gave it 8 stars. But other than that, I would highly recommend that you watch it. It is well worth every penny. Enjoy!
