Another solid and enjoyable addition to the franchise (by kannibalcorpsegrinder)
Following the appearance of another sharknado, the family bands together to stop it only to find their son sucked into the retreating storm and are forced to go on a globe-trotting spree slaying sharks with a secret organization to track him down and stop the sharks.Once again this one offers a lot to really like about it. Taking on a usual approach of building off the past, this one provides plenty of incredibly fun action-packed moments due to the constant and never-ending series of action within here. Triggering the event at the very beginning in the cave which quickly gets flooded and <more>
filled with sharks, the resulting payoff of the devastation in London has so much to like with the massive destruction offered of the sharks falling and taking out the citizens in really cool ways as well as the innovative defense techniques to stop them as the sharks flood the streets. As well, the later scenes of the blimp being brought down by the tornado and getting into the big skiing sequence down the mountain which offers up plenty of fun here by setting up the enjoyable series of scenes within the global community. Offering forth the idea of the international order and the different portals featured throughout here where this one manages to bring big scenes in all the different cities. The attack on the opera house, the chase through the mountains with the giant statues floating around them and the big battle in the coliseum make for a great series of action-packed encounters battling the creatures around them, yet the high-energy destruction caused in Tokyo where the blob of sharks ambling around like a giant monster powered by the radioactive material is where the cheesy action really scores well. This one even manages to feature the fun moments inside the Egyptian sequences where their supernatural prophecies come to pass and this one really plays nicely with the grandiose supernatural action present here which finally ends matters with all the fine destruction featured throughout the world. Along with the great kills and a rather glorious ending twist, these give this one so much to like to hold it out over the minor flaw here. As per usual, there's just no getting around the lame CGI present which really doesn't look good and holds this back considerably with the goofy look of the sharks in their environment which happens constantly due to the big action throughout here. Otherwise, this one was highly enjoyable.Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language and children-in- jeopardy.
As these films go i am more than happy to give it a 10.it did everything i like in these kind of movies. It is fun, it has bad CG and the acting is garbage but its what us Asylum/sharknado fans look for. I would suggest watching the rest because believe it or not they do have a following story. No sharks were harmed in the making of this film.Watch it!!!!
Sharknado AWESOME!!! (by NuikopeaDemon)
First off I really enjoyed this movie and well the entire series truthfullySecondly this is my first review so lets get started...Even though the acting can be bad and CGI bad I found this movie had a better budget than previous installments but anyways Sharknado 5: Global Swarming is about Fin Shepard and April Wexler trying to find their son since he got caught up in a Torando so they travel around the world trying to find Gil its can be a roller-coaster to know whats happening but I loved this movie.... Sure it's not a Hollywood BLOCKBUSTER but It knows that and well 4 films from the <more>
first one you would think that they're running out of ideas, Well they aren't so get ready for Sharknado 6: Shark to the Future maybe? You will understand when you see it
****Might be spoilers. I don't know what I'm going to write.****As usual, Sharknado delivered. The homages to movies of the past, the sly references and the celebrity cameos are what keeps me coming back. Yes, the acting is over the top and, yes, the scripts are, at times, cringe-inducing. But it's funny and entertaining. Of course, the "film snobs" won't think so, but screw them! Now, that said, this Sharknado disappointed me in spots. First off, when Chris Kattan has his leg bitten off by a shark at Parliament, why oh why did he not say "It's only a flesh <more>
wound."? Would have been the perfect homage to Monty Python. Missed opportunity there. Second, why was Tiffany Pollard aka New York from Flavor of Love in this movie? She's no longer relevant. She had no business being in the cast. Get that gold-digging nasty whore out of my movie! Third, the ending of the movie was not good. Without getting into any specifics, Dolph Lundgren??? SMH. Just no. Loved the first 1:50 of the film. The last 10 minutes needed to be better. And why have time travel as part of the film if you're not going to have Christopher Lloyd come in to help save the day? Despite all of that, I'm eagerly anticipating Sharknado 6. When will Ian Ziering get his much-deserved Emmy Award?
This a very scary movie. It has great acting. It also has great special effects. It also has great story line. It is a very scary movie. See is. Jaws is better. So is Jaws 2. Jaws 3 is BUT still this a great movie.
argh.... my brain is melting, and I just don't care! (by Brucey_D)
Yes it is another Sharknado movie and this one has it's tongue so far in its cheek that it might never see daylight again. Arguably the typical ingredients in a SyFy movie, being second-rate actors, third-rate production values and fourth-rate CGI, have found their perfect means of expression in the Sharknado series. If you are going to end up making a film that no-one is likely to take seriously anyway, why not go the whole hog and make it as absurd as possible? Throw in a slightly larger budget which allows for some interesting cameos and the occasional line of dialogue which is <more>
genuinely funny and you have Sharknado 5. I took absolutely nothing about this film remotely seriously -which I take to be the intended spirit- and I rather enjoyed it.
The plastic surgery is hideous but the women rock (by littlereview)
I just want to point out that, as bad as the dialogue can be and as ridiculous as the liposuction, Botox, and skin stretching on many of the actresses appears, all of the Sharknado films pass the Bechdel Test and most have more substantive roles for women than the Avengers franchise. This one has Nichelle Nichols running NATO and Olivia Newton-John as a bionic scientist.
Bigger, better, stronger (by lale-ba)
Concept of sharknadoes hitting the big screen every year may just the ultimate answer to the Hollywood's decaying scriptwriting, baring its helplessness to the bone with each new Ian Ziering's C-production long feature. After a couple of hickups in the franchize, the final installment is just bigger, better and funnier than any of the other four previous ones. Production is now steadily growing at an even pace, while the trademark hilarious scriptwriting just keeps getting better and better. NATOnado, Shark-God, Stonehenge, British queen, Rio, Tokyo, Pope, Sharkzilla and ultimately, <more>
time travelling with the biggest and baddest of all the cameos at the very end will just make laugh your heart out and spit in the face of modern Hollywood. ''Global swarming" is the biggest, best and strongest of all the Ian Ziering's hilarious stories about sharks as weather phenomena.
Overall, probably the best Sharknado yet. Which is not saying much as Sharknados 2, 3 and 4 were pretty forgettable. There not much point in talking about the cast or plot as it's all instantly forgettable, but the movie gets points for the:The number of C- and D-list who make cameo appearances* - and inevitably get killed by a shark shortly thereafterThe number of cities they visitThe numerous movie referencesHow seriously they areThe non-stop actionSee it now if you like the first one. Otherwise, forget I even brought it up.* Just a few examples: Clay Aiken, Samantha Fox, Charo as the <more>
