Loved it! (by Katie-Quesnell) |
I may be partial to the film having waited a long time to see it. As soon as I found out Julianne Hough had been cast I' a long standing fan from back in her DWTS days! I knew I just had to see the film! I went out and bought the book and quickly read it in a matter of days. When I finally saw the film I was not disappointed. Although some features of the book had been changed I felt that the key elements were there. I appreciated the directorial style of Lasse Halstrom.Julianne Hough, in my biased opinion, was stellar. As a breakthrough in her first serious dramatic role I was <more> |
"Sparks" fly in this romantic melodrama! (by RogerCampbell) |
Nicholas Spark's novel Safe Haven is brought to the big screen and yet again he serves up a story that tugs on the heartstrings of many a female viewer... and perhaps a few male viewers as well. Katie Julianne Hough is a physically and emotionally battered and beaten young woman from Boston who is on the run from her abusive and alcoholic husband Kevin Tierney David Lyons . With the aid of a neighbor, Katie changes her hair and assumes a different identity. She then boards a bus bound for a place that she can call her "safe haven". That place happens to be Southport, NC, a <more> |
A Great Movie! Thank You, Nicholas Sparks! (by mmit911) |
I loved this movie as well as the book, which I am reading again! Why? I am so disappointed that this movie did not get the length of featured times as the other out of the wazoo with profanity, overdone big time action to the point one needed a movie such as "Safe Haven" to relax with, to share with others in a movie chat club, which chooses a movie, then see the movie and then, most importantly, stop somewhere and discuss the movie! I was so disappointed in seeing this movie get turned off after the first week, and many people I spoke to, agreed, as they wanted to share with <more> |
A Love That Stands The Test of Time! (by HollywoodJunket) |
As human nature would have it, it's not a rare thing to fall in and out of love a number of times in one person's lifetime. But, then, there are those even more rare cases of finding the one true love that may occur only once in a person's life and lasting even longer than a lifetime. Relativity Media's "Safe Haven", directed by Lasse Hallstrom is a story about one of those such rare cases.Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, the story opens with a young woman, who simply goes by "Katie", played by Julianne Hough, as she is seen fiercely escaping danger. <more> |
Great!!! (by jennyhand26) |
I loved this movie!! It did differ from the book in certain little ways but not enough that it would make this a bad movie by any means, if they would have added every detail the movie would have been four hours long. The actors were great in it, the scenes were very well done, and the mystery was enough to keep your attention even if you read the book. I was very happy when they kept to a huge portion of the storyline, and esp the ending, that were in the book. If you are a fan of Spark's other books or movies you will def love this one, but even if you aren't there is enough in this <more> |
Book vs Movie (by jillsanchez13) |
Okay so I watched Safe Haven yesterday not knowing anything about the book. I loved the movie but after reading the book I could see why a lot of the book lovers disliked it. First of all I gave this a 9 because of how much I did enjoy the movie before I even read the book. Although I did love the movie I have to comment on how inaccurate it wasFirst off, Katie's character is all wrong. She was a mess when she got to Southport and it took her a long time to get comfortable and healthy again. Her hair is even the opposite of what it was in the book but I guess that was to make it easier <more> |
Amazing story (by janiegun619) |
I watched Safe Haven knowing that Nicholas Sparks wrote the story, and not having read the book. This movie completely exceeded my expectations. As I write this, the tears are drying on my face. I believed the chemistry was there with the actors and the romance had a good build-up not rushed . I like that the story was easy to follow. The actions scenes were well-directed and realistic. I like how the story incorporates action, suspense, drama, and romance, all in one. What really moved shocked me was the ending. It was so beautiful and I just started bawling. It was so moving. As a whole, <more> |
What is not to love in this movie (by Ranbud) |
OK, lets start off with the only negative of this movie, It is very very slow moving movie. Now the positives, I understand the need to build the storyline and build the relationship which nearly took the whole movie, but a love story is always slow to build to a point where it is believable. This movie had everything, and I have to say that the ending makes this entire 2 hour movie worthwhile. As the movie progresses you get small hints of things and they never really sink in until the ending when you realize "Why did I not see that" This movie had me with tears in my eyes which of <more> |
