Sleeper hit (by rlsullivan) |
Great film. Great story. Sleeper Tony Scott film with beautiful cinematography. If you like Costner or not, its still compelling. Great, powerful ending and truly romantic story of what love really means to a man. Great secondary characters. Anthony Quinn, Madeiline Stowe best looking she has ever been Miguel Ferrar, James Gammon. I saw this film when I was 21 and 15 years later, it still has a strong presence with me. The scenes between Stowe and Costner are great. The cloakroom scene is sexy and romantic and powerful- you may find yourself supplied with more inspiration next time you are <more> |
Best movie ever (by jj_palencia) |
My all time favorite movie, people giving it bad reviews are full of $***, movie is powerful, greatly directed and great acting. The story is awsome. |
Great Story And Acting (by astoryweaver) |
Revenge is a good story and the acting is superb. I wish it had a happier ending, but all in all the ending is appropriate. I wish there wasn't so much cursing in it also. I think a good story can be told without using the foul language. But all in all, this is a 10. |
One of Great Love story which is Classis Hollywood (by prince_c3) |
Well, this movie capture me out of no where first I didn't watch this movie for a long time then One fine day when I watch I felt guilty because I avoided the greatest master piece if Hollywood. I don't want to write much about the story or plot as you can find many comments on that, I would like you to see this movie through the era where Hollywood was real Hollywood which lost its touch NOW to the extent that other Cinemas totally overshadowed now, there was the time when classic movies Like this one was copied in several language in several countries, I saw the remake and copying <more> |
anti-Hollywood action movie (by bonedaddy5) |
I have watched Revenge probably a dozen times in the last five years, and it sucks me in every time. This movie takes seriously the themes that have become cliche in Hollywood. In most action movies revenge is an easy gimmick used as an excuse for fight scenes and special effects, and only the action hero is worthy of tasting the great motivation of revenge. The bad guy is of course just bad, and his motivation can only be his innate evil. In this case, revenge is motive for both the good and the evil. As in real life, revenge inspires only violence and pain. Now I love a good revenge fantasy <more> |
Shoot me, but I like it (by yojimbo999) |
I don't know what it is about this movie. I really, REALLY liked it when I first saw it YEARS ago. I think the movie came out in 90, and I saw it around 91 or 92, after it'd come on video. Maybe it's just the doomed romantic in me, but I'm a sucker for movies about doomed lovers. I know, I know, the story is cliche, and we've seen the best friend cheats on friend with friend's wife but is justified because friend is something of a bad guy, blah blah blah. Forget all that. The visuals are stunning and I didn't mind the film slow pace at all. To me, the slow and <more> |
'Revenge' surpassed by the flavor of desire and love... (by Nazi_Fighter_David) |
'Revenge' has a recently retired fighter pilot Kevin Costner who goes to the coastal city of Puerto Vallarta, to enjoy the hospitality of an old friend he saves once his life on a hunting trip... The possessive longtime friend has a wonderful-but-unhappy wife... Mireya Madeleine Stowe is an exotic young brunette, with great magnetism, who truly blew Costner's mind... Mireya embarks on a passionate affair, that naturally drives her husband 'Tibby' Anthony Quinn out of his mind...Sexual tension is an integral part of Tony Scott's character's conflict... It <more> |
Watch the Directors Cut (by Hollywood_Yoda) |
If you get the chance to see this film, make sure it's the directors cut. At a shorter running time, the story unfolds quicker, but it gets to the point, and makes for a better film. Tony Scott did a tremendous job directing, and the leading cast was great. Kevin Costner and Madeline Stowe make a great on screen couple. The directors cut does omit much of Anthony Quinn's performance, but what's left is amazing. Miguel Ferrer co- stars as Amador, who helps Costner's Cochran character get Revenge. James Gammon also makes an appearance as a Texan who helps along the way.Overall, <more> |
"I have already fathered dozens of children!" (by pzivojinovic) |
A story about uncontrollable passion and desire that forces two people to act upon impulses they know they should put aside but they cannot control their true feelings, and act with reckless abandon. Madelaine Stowe is the lovely lady in an unfulfilling marriage to Tibby Mendez Anthony Quinn that Jay, Costner's character, almost immediately falls in love with. Tibby belongs to the Mexican underworld, probably a drug king-pin, and befriends Jay who saved Tibby's life in a hunting accident. When Tibby invites Jay to spend a few weeks at his estate in Mexico, he never imagined Jay <more> |
