who say that any movie with a killer animal of any kind is a ripoff of Jaws. Sure, in the endless world of horror certain themes can only be done so many times, but reviews like that are pretty much the same as saying that all horror movies are just copies of all other horror movies.Perhaps one just has to have an interest in souls, mythologies, and pondering possibilities to enjoy this movie. I am a fan of horror all around, I've seen so many and such a range I couldn't begin to get into it. I've seen plenty of mindless slashers including the enjoyable ones , and more than plenty of crap story lines I wish I hadn't. This was not one of those, and I liked it.The acting was good, especially Max Thieriot as Bug. I thought the twists and turns with Bug were fascinating. They gave the option to question whether or not people around him were real, or in his head. Yes, they were real, but it was one of the interesting possibilities I considered. Overall, the movie was very enjoyable.

come here and write reviews..now i have written one because when people look at the main page of the movie here,they will get misconceived,they would immediately move to another page because of the low rating...but mates,there are several high rated movies,which i slept while watching..it deserves a 9..i gave it 10 so its overall rating would improve..

plot twists and elements to the story, originality and structure, you end up not knowing what to think. I literally sat next to my friend and said: "Oh, I know, this person is the killer," or "Oh, never mind, that idea is shot down, now THIS is what is happening!" only to be proved wrong again! This film was a thrill to watch. I didn't get scared during this movie, because movies don't scare me, but I did jump in a couple places and had a good time watching my friends jump and scream and squirm. Now i'll admit that some of the characters were tools and not that well developed but for their time on screen, we were able to learn enough about their characters to know whether or not we like them and are therefore rooting for them to survive. But as the kids are dying off sequentially, the survivors characters have even more time to develop and therefore make it so that we feel for them, more or less. The acting from the "Ripperton 7" and the other actor are preformed well enough to satisfy ourselves and keep us invested in the movie, but some of the more minor characters could have been better. The movie opens one way and we are surprised at how it takes a completely different turn than we thought it would and already has a plot twist that kind of confuses us but as the film progresses we are able to produce enough theories to keep our head spinning until we learn the truth. "My Soul to Take" is studded with scares, creepy elements, and overall weird, scratch your head moments, but that only adds to the flair and charm and overall pleasure we gain from viewing the action-packed, very thrilling ending! It is also filled with all of the other Wes like elements he involves in almost all of his films that make them so original and great! I recommend seeing this film and any other of Wes's fine films. I was not able to view the film in its 3D quality, as my Cinema Center only had the 2D version, but the movie is so good that it does not call for it, I would only see it as am added bonus! For everything mentioned above I was able to come to the conclusion that this movie was a 9 out of 10! - It would have gotten a 10 if the ending was even MORE unpredictable and had an even BIGGER twist than it had, even though the ending was still really good.

viewed the movie and how they rated it.I have my own 5 Star system which got this film a 4.5.If you are new to IMDb.....never, ever take the scoring system to heart. Even a really BAD film based on reviews will perk my interest to watch it and see for myself. For those of you who use IMDb regularly.....this movie didn't earn the 4.7 it got. it doesn't relate to everyone and the people when people die it's almost humorous. This movie requires a level of intelligence to watch and an open mind on the subject of souls, in order to be "freaked out." If you understand these concepts you'll enjoy the movie, if you don't you'll be left complaining about it's complexity and how it made no sense.
