Low budget but fun horror (by miwaArt) |
This low budget British horror has a lot in common with Dog Soldiers.Ensemble cast of disparate characters thrown together in unlikely circumstances and have to pull together in the face of a common enemy: werewolves. This time it's in the confined space of a passenger train.Whilst this Brit horror was clearly made on a budget, which sometimes shows through, it's got a really tense and atmospheric build up, as the strangers on the train soon find themselves in an end of the line siege, where their differences are forgotten about when put under threat by a creature stalking the <more> |
I'm speechless (by chandra-rosella) |
In my opinion its really amazing i can admit that. And its keeping me 'breathless' on my seat, and i couldn't take my eyes off of the screen!! i couldn't even imagine how will i survive in that condition and its just... AMAZING!! I'm really surprised for the ending, its really unexpected to see. During i'm watching the movie, my mind are full of curiosity about how will it goes. I felt like i'm in that kind of situation and it makes me jump in my seat all the time, if i would be one of cinematic critics, i would give an enormous stars and comments: just to say that <more> |
An Original And Imagnitive Werewolf Film. (by Vivekmaru45) |
In the past I've seen a lot of Werewolf movies, Silver Bullet 1985 and An American Werewolf in London 1981 in particular. The reason why Werewolf films appeal to me is to witness the transformation from human being into a wolf. Obviously you need to have a good FX man to do this. The best transformation I have seen was in An American Werewolf in London 1981 and also in The Howling 1981 . Among the newer films The Wolfman 2010 and Underworld 2003 have modern CGI werewolves. This film is about passengers on a train, stranded in the middle of a remote and forested part of the English <more> |
Werewolves on a train! What's not to like about that? (by mail-680-995240) |
Werewolves on a train! What's not to like about that?! A bunch of varied commuters get stranded on a broken down late night train in the middle of the woods. After the driver disappears, they try to walk up the tracks they soon regret it - something is out there and it wants in! This creature feature totally does what it says on the tin - scary as hell monsters, believable characters from different background fighting to live through the night - plenty of gore but loads of fun too. A real stand out bad guy performance from Elliot Cowan as a psycho banker determined to survive. Great comic <more> |
Solid, well-crafted, and genuinely scary monster flick (by djjchambers) |
Expect some genuine creepiness, suspense and scares from this well-crafted-on-a-low-budget horror from writers Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler and director Paul Hyett. There's a palpable sense of claustrophobia and tension throughout, and Hyett's SFX background really shows the effects are largely practical rather than CG which means that the horror is really visceral when it happens There are laughs too to puncture the tension - some moments are very funny including a standout gag involving Calvin Dean's character Paul's inability to grasp the seriousness of the situation. Kudos to Peter Hyett (by shultzkent) |
Do not accept negative reviews on HOWL. After watching HOWL, I am going to try and watch every Hyett film he has ever done. I thought HOWL was very well acted..by ALL involved..by every character actor...and there was nothing wrong with the photography! I thought the movie moved along well, was not too slow in developing, and I was drawn into the flick by the combination of good acting, good dialog, and I was able to fully empathize with the characters...which is essential to the willingness to continue watching. After having seen so many "formula"horror stories, I am surprised that <more> |
Fun Brit Horror! (by mail-71044) |
Lots of familiar faces in this fun Brit horror from effects maestro Paul Hyett - Shauna Macdonald THE DESCENT , Sean Pertwee DOG SOLDIERS , Rosie Day THE SEASONING HOUSE , Ed Speleers DOWNTON ABBEY - a very cool young cast of up and comers too, having loads of fun with a great script that doesn't take itself too seriously. Not that it isn't full of scares too - some kick ass action as the passengers join together to fight off the werewolves. They've gone for a much more realistic kind of monster – like a human/wolf hybrid. No furry cuddly Twilight wolves in this one! Most <more> |
There were three things about this film that made me like it. (by ericrnolan) |
ou can't call "Howl" 2015 a great movie — not all of its acting, screen writing and directing supports that statement. But this indie British horror flick's better qualities make it a pretty good one — enough to warrant an 8 out of 10.There were three things about this film that made me like it.1 It's a straightforward werewolf tale. Monsters attack average commuters on a red-eye train after it breaks down under a full moon in an English forest. There is no Byzantine backstory, no sexing it up and no humanizing of the werewolves. They're gross. I found that <more> |
The best werewolf movie in recent memory (by 851222) |
Greetins from Lithuania."Howl" 2015 is a very effective were werewolf movie. It's bloody, simple story yet effectively told. Sure, story is very simple but who cares if it works, and this movie gave exactly what i wanted from it - a pretty good and scary werewolf movie. Overall, while writing does not shine in this movie and there are some pretty bad lines, "Howl" is one effective and creepy monster horror movie. Seeing very low 5.2 score at IMDb i expected a trashy movie, but this one surprised me. As there aren't many new movies to say the least about these <more> |
