now this is the kind of movie that Christian Slater does best. perfect for the role and the film, he does not disappoint. : all the characters are well rendered, the dialog is perfectly paced and the end result: a completely satisfying film that i'll see a few more times yet.there are so many fun twists it'll keep you guessing if not WHO dunnit, HOW the heck they dunnit. do yourself a favour: watch this film.i honestly couldn't find anything i didn't like about the film. the ladies are lovely, the baddies are the perfect kind of smarmy and it's just plain fun to watch.
A great late night snack--not too filling and it won't give you indigestion. (by carbuff)
Why am I rating this movie so highly when if you paid to see it at a movie theater you might be lukewarm about it? Because it's a perfect late night snack. It's spunky, clever, witty, and odd with decent production values. Quite a few people meet untimely ends in this movie, but it isn't really gory, and maintains a light mood throughout. You have to watch it to the bitter end for all of the twists. Some reviewers have complained about "The Blond", but whatever she lacked in acting ability, her other rather obvious "assets" more than compensated I'm sure <more>
you get my drift . In any event, I personally thought she fit the role she was supposed to play really well--she might not be cut out for "Sophie's Choice", but, on the other hand, Meryl Streep would have been a big mistake here likewise. Really, this is just fun, happy-go-lucky, late-night entertainment, so just make some popcorn, grab a coke, lighten up, and enjoy the ride. I did.
Slater & Oldman made the right decision to star in GGG (by Thom-Peters)
GGG is a nice little movie that keeps you entertained throughout. Michael Winnick manages to keep the cadence really steady, so if you like the first ten minutes you'll probably like the whole thing. This is actually a great accomplishment as too many movies starting with a similar vibe get goofy and boring after a while.Plot- and character-wise Winnick uses many stereotypes, the ingredients of GGG are very familiar. But the overall result looks fresh and new, so there's nothing wrong with that. The hypocritical prejudices against the use of stereotypes are a main source of GGG's <more>
humor. If you can't laugh about people with prejudices complaining about the different prejudices of others, you should skip this movie. The two movies GGG really reminds me of are "Lucky Number Slevin" and "Snatch". Both have a rating of 8. That sounds a bit high for "a nice little movie", but GGG's current rating is 3.7 and that's just embarrassing. So 8 it is.
This film was one of the biggest surprises in the last 2 years given the bad ratings on IMDb. It just seems people have no clue how to handle a self ironic movie making fun about itself. Not every movie with good old fashioned music and edgy characters is a Tarantino rip off! Hands down this movie is close to being brilliant, it got everything you expect from it and yet you will end up completely surprised. The ending will proof to you that it was thought through scene by scene and if you can oversee the bad ratings and watch it with an open mind you will love it.
GUNS, GIRLS AND GAMBLING...It's not a clever title. (by anthonybevilacqua77)
This is the kind of cinematic experience where everything you need to know not to mention everything you don't is forcibly spoon fed to you exactly a million times over. What you see here is precisely what you get, and that list is as follows: Christian Slater as Christian Slater, endless clichés and plot holes, recycled characters and storytelling devices, shamefully shameless editing, racism, sexism, gratuitous violence, oh, and did I mention Gary Oldman as an Elvis Impersonator? This film is pretty much the bastard child of 3,000 Miles to Graceland and Smokin' Aces. Two films <more>
that were not all that original to begin with...but I love them anyway. And same goes if only to a slightly lesser extent for Guns, Girls and Gambling. So basically, I'm saying it works...just not very hard.
