Why Rated So Low?! (by stephenhill8) |
I'm a sci-fi fan, but am pretty discriminating. Often _years_ will go by where I don't like even a single sci-fi film that comes out. This one scared and "wow-ed" me. Doesn't just rely on special effects, but has a good plot and at least decent acting. I don't see why this film was rated so poorly, unless other viewers didn't know ahead of time it had a strong sci-fi bent I didn't . Great storyline, eerie memorable scenes, and a complex background story that evolves slowly but consistently throughout the movie through flashbacks from the main characters. <more> |
Amazing (by Max_Colston) |
DREAMCATCHERDirector: Lawrence Kasdan, Writers: William Goldman and Lawrence Kasdan, Starring: Morgan Freeman as Kurtz, Thomas Jane as Henry, Donnie Wahlberg as Dudits,Rating: 4/4`Dreamcatcher' works on so many different levels. It works great as a drama, as a comedy, as an action film, and as a horror film. I'm a big fan of Stephen King's novels and I'm pleased that `Dreamcatcher' is a faithful adaptation, unlike `The Shining' and `Apt Pupil.' There's a whole lot going on in this film so without ruining anything I'll tell you the basics: four boys were <more> |
It wasn't THAT bad. (by rs422) |
This flick wasn't nearly as bad as some film versions of King's work. In fact the CG work was very good. I really liked the high angle shot of the snow falling down towards the tracking of the guys riding through the forest. The guy getting creamed by the car was a wonderful render. Too many people it seems can't deal with camp and horror at the same time. I thought this film pulled that off pretty well. I didn't get up and leave like I've during past film excursions into King stories. It's difficult to pull a king story off well when transposing to film because King <more> |
Love it or hate it (by geehowdy) |
This movie will be a cult classic! I was enthralled with the four buddies and the first appearance of the alien was over the top. I had to look away the scene was ultra frightening. I have read a lot of bad reviews of this movie but I though the acting was wonderful The directing was good and CGI was great. I think a lot of people misunderstood this film because of the sub plots and genre twisting. I also thought Donnie Wahlberg is a gifted actor and much better than his brother. The cinematography was great and well crafted. It made winter into something beautiful. I would recommend this <more> |
An Honest Review (by generationofswine) |
Compared to the book, yeah, it stinks...but that's really only because it got lost somewhere in translation from prose to screen.Take it as it is, take it as a movie and its not half bad, the problem is that, once you leave the book behind what you have is an old fashioned B horror movie that is trying to sell itself in an era where B horror movies need the special effects of modern super hero movies and the basic plot of a Dick and Jane novel. And then, in many ways, it's just too expensive. It feels like a classic Drive-In horror flick, but it looks like a block buster. Tone down the <more> |
NOT THE BEST... BUT.... (by countryluver61192) |
This was not one of the best SK movie because they left out a lot of detail. Some really big parts. But overall it was great. It will have you on the edge of your seat 99.99% of the time. The cast included Morgan Freeman, Damian Lewis, Thomas Jane, Tom Sizemore, and more. Morgan Freeman places a madman who wants to kill Tom Sizemore. Damian Lewis plays the riveting role of Jonesy. He did a fantastic job of being a "Double Person". Thomas Jane plays a telepath who sends brain waves to Damian. Tom Sizemore plays colleague of Freeman and betrays him. The movie should receive a 5 out of <more> |
Not a masterpiece but enjoyable. (by deche) |
I actually liked Dreamcatcher enough that I saw it twice. However, this may be mostly due to the fact that I really liked Jason Lee as Beaver and Timothy Olyphant as Pete. Regardless, this was actually a movie I did enjoy seeing.I was not particularly interested in seeing Dreamcatcher initially. And this is me, who wants to see every scary movie. Not Scream type horror, but certainly of the creepy not entirely natural variety: Ring, Resident Evil is that even horror? , you get the idea. However, my sister and her friend convinced me to go. After seeing an interview with Jason and some video <more> |
A Different Thriller !!! (by Cyrilmathews) |
I had this movie with me past 3 months. I watched it today. I think this movie was underrated because of the book. In fact I hadn't even read its synopsis so I had no idea about the story. I think that made me enjoy this movie better. The movie has a heavy plot. Since the synopsis was not read the fist 15 - 20 minutes were like a puzzle to me. It had achieved my full concentration in that time so that the rest of the story can be watched in a thriller style. This move is meant for serious watching. The direction of the movie is good enough, the actors done their part well, the special <more> |
Funny! (by soupdragon37713) |
I can't believe this has got such bad reviews. I watched it as a fan of Damian Lewis and thought it was absolutely hilarious; Damian is the best thing about it, admittedly, but he's so funny! The switching between accents is fab, and his American accent is so good I didn't recognise his voice at the beginning. Morgan Freeman is terrible! I'm shocked by his performance. However, I thought the relationships were portrayed really well and I loved Jason Lee and Thomas Jane. And who doesn't like aliens which come out of weird places? No, it's good because it's <more> |
