don't believe the reviews, Amazing movie! (by keepitgoan) |
I don't review movies too often but I just want to say I love this movie. I like the first one a lot as well, as I'm a huge fan of the original twisted metal games and this is as close to a movie of it as i can get at the moment. My reasons for enjoying it so much are the characters, and how more of a backstory is given to a variety of people and makes you root for your favorite. There's more than racing here and great crashes here, there's excitement within the prison and on the streets after a heist, more development and fun dialog, and a variety of concepts knitted nicely <more> |
thumbs up (by cooljinx) |
This movie F-ing rocks !!! Everyone remembers movies for what we call "the best bits." but this movie is rammed chock full of awesome scenes weaved together like whisky and sex : I was pleased to hear Sean bean using his own accent and the concept of vengeance was handled with a shot of whisky to raise when the host bit the bonnet of a souped up Mustang >: It makes me want to watch the original 70's movie again.Did anyone notice a clip from it on Sean's plasma?10/10"Pizza. Cable. A Jedi craves not these things." |
Well as far as prequels go (by blackmamba99971) |
I have to say that this was a bit better than the first death race with Jason Statham. This had a bit more story to let the audience know of how Frankenstein was born. Luke Goss plays Carl Lukas. A once bank robber, get away driver who is put in for life. During his stay, becomes part of 'Deathmatch' a televised event where prisoners fight to the death since the public wont miss them much anyway. This gave way to a new version called Deathrace, where prisoners drive ultimate cars fitted with everything from oil traps to missiles to full powered Gatalin guns. The goal, to survive five <more> |
Surprise Surprise (by bobmichigan1) |
If there is a straight to DVD movie that is good than this would be your cup of tea. Now i was not a huge fan of the first one it was just a fun action movie with lots of deadly car crashes. This one almost tops it and believe it or not the acting is not horrible for a direct to DVD smash up. If you are bored one night and just want to watch a fresh and fun movie go get this. This movie takes place before the original and how Frankenstein was invented. Don't expect academy awards won here, the action scenes are done very well and the racing was done just as well as the first if not <more> |
Pleasantly surprised (by Lestatuk) |
I watched this expecting the normal dire straight to DVD movie and how wrong I was, OK so it didn't have the budget of Death Race and pails in comparison to the original but what it does it does very well, in that It tells a great origin story. If you ever wondered where the whole screwed up idea come from, this film fills in those blanks! The other great thing is the outstanding ending concludes just before the beginning of death race and due to the film being so good it makes it easy to watch death race directly afterwards which I am now doing .Bottom line it's a great movie, <more> |
Straight to DVD sequel that delivers. (by kingwizy100) |
I know that like most of you, as well as I, were not expecting much from a straight to DVD sequel from a theater movie which included a few famous actors & had a great budget while this sequel had fewer actors & budget. The entire movie as you will all know is a prequel explaining the beginnings of Frankenstein. The story flows quite nicely and explains a lot about the origin of Frankenstein while a little bit of the guy who becomes Frankenstein. The movie is well worth the watch if you're interested on learning more about the back story to Death Race 2. That's what this film is <more> |
A movie about the origins of death race and Frankenstein. Not as good as the first one but a very good prequel. I say B+ (by cosmo_tiger) |
After a bank robbery goes bad Carl Lucas Goss gets sent to prison. The crime boss who sent him out Bean is afraid he will testify against him and sends in assassins to the prison to make sure he doesn't. First of all, if you haven't seen the first "Death Race" I would start with that you will get some of the call-backs , but I would say its more like the "Star Wars" prequels...you can watch in either order and it will still make sense. I loved the first movie and was very leery about a direct to DVD prequel, but I was very surprised. There were a couple <more> |
A very entertaining prequel (by Argemaluco) |
Death Race was many miles away from reaching the same levels of black humor and intelligence from the original Death Race 2000, but it nevertheless kept me entertained mainly thanks to its main actor and the violent automotive sequences. And even though there did not seem to be too much material for a sequel, the studio Universal did not vacillate to exploit the home market with Death Race 2, released straight-to-DVD. Strictly speaking, this is not a sequel, but a prequel, something which allows a better distribution of the low budget with which it was made. That's the reason why Death <more> |
