Spoiler Free Opinion and my First Review (by jonvansickle-227-428631) |
When it comes to movies, I try to steer clear of anything romantic or too heavy on action. You wont find me watching movies like The Notebook nor will I begin to navigate the repertoire that is Steven Seagal's Straight-to-Video library. I like movies that I can tell had thought put into their script, had characters with some to a lot of depth, and a run-time that didn't drag on.Now that my "disclaimer" is there, I will say this movie touched on what I tend to enjoy most in movies - mystery, leads with chemistry, and believable characters. One of the characters in the movie, <more> |
An original and suspenseful thriller with a bittersweet ending. (by dandxchen) |
I will start by being honest and saying that initially, the ending felt like a disappointment, almost like the entire film had built me up for an amazing ending that I never received. There were so many ideas swimming in my head throughout watching from the get go, yet this movie chose to take a seemingly obvious ending and evoke a delayed sense of shock shortly after the credits started to roll. It has only been in the hours after watching the whole movie that the intentions of the Director had most probably planned on how it would leave the viewer feeling kicked in and boy, I've been so <more> |
A Bittersweet Love Story (by nebohr) |
This is a well crafted movie with a solid cast of players. Yes there is alot of gunfire and other types of mayhem but primarily it's about love. Love lost then found again. The ending will most likely will tug at your heart. |
Barber's barber, Writer's Writer, Return of Jimmy Stewart (by A_Different_Drummer) |
Enjoyable, engaging, captivating, suspense film. But of course you did not take the time to look at this review to find out the obvious. You want to know more.So here we go: Writer/Director Zack Whedon comes from a family where, instead of teaching the boys how to play ball or change a sparkplug, the parents taught their kids how to tell a story. More on this can can found on the web. The first breakout star from the siblings was Joss. Joss as in Buffy, Serenity, Cabin In the Woods, the Marvel Library and, for all I know, Genesis and Deuteronomy too.So, my point, when looking at a Whedon <more> |
Twisted and Suspense (by tomberlin55) |
I watched a lot of so la la 2016 movies and didn't know anything about this one. Right from the start I was hooked. The perspective is from that average joe who gets himself deeper and deeper into a mystery and conspiracy. I was thinking about what happens next to him and how he manages to service the next scene. Yes the story was weired, but again it is from the actions of a none- professional. I loved it when he took the time to paint the car windows just to get informed by his "victim": nobody can look in, but you can't look out. Aaron face when he realized his well <more> |
Underrated (by sepetcenk) |
A decent mystery crime drama. Very underrated. A big star in a modest film. Story is digging a gem that no action movie did before this deep. Well directed. Minor and acceptable logical errors in the script. Good directing of photography. Music is good enough. Gives the tension to audience and It doesn't come front of the movie. Hoolywood must understand this and have a look at good examples like "Anthropoid" 2016 . Casting is OK but Aaron Paul seems a little bit heavy considering rest of the cast. Annabelle Wallis is not the best casting choice but her body language makes her <more> |
A Thriller With Nuance (by tonya-jarrett) |
What do you call Zach Whedon's little gem of a film? It's part romance, part mystery, and part thriller, and all good and intriguing. It's not a loud film, despite the action sequences; it has nuance, and lovely touches in the Aaron Paul David and Annabelle Wallis Claire relationship. The film begins with a misdirection, actually a long-standing motif with David and Claire, which creates tension from the get-go and almost a quality of premonition for the rest of the film. I never watched Breaking Bad but was impressed by how good Aaron Paul's Everyman was, doggedly putting <more> |
Dark, but not so handsome (by spsarkar) |
I watch hundreds of movies, not for a living but for enjoyment. I bumped in to this one although Aaron Paul was a definite attraction. The reason I do not write reviews is that it is too much hassle to log in, write and stuff. Amazon does not make it easy although IMDb kinda runs on user reviews. I really don't understand why they have to be suck donkeys about it but each to his own. Anyway, back to the film. While I found the plot to be convoluted enough at times and simple at others, the whole enterprise is kinda lost in the various layers, and a layer too many in my opinion. The film <more> |
