better than expected (by tigergirlcatie) |
Cabin Fever is like your subconscious nightmare. Just the concept of some virus eating your flesh gives you the chills. Being a horror movie buff myself, I am very hypercritical of most horror movies, because most horror movies really aren't that scary anymore. But this movie, just makes you think "what if?" it very supernatural, but you still think "oh my god, that's going to happen to me". There were some scenes that made you think that it was so over the top and campy, but then you realize it really works. Cabin Fever is amusing, and gory fun. I highly recommend <more> |
I'm sorry but i love this movie! (by anasarcarecords) |
This has to be one of the funniest most original horror films that I have ever seen! I own this title and i've seen it about 4 times, and every time i'm like "i forgot how much i love this movie!". However if you like traditional slasher horror movies this might seem kind of lame. I kind of think most horror movies are lame so.....I'm not even a fan of Eli Roth's other movies. I rarely give movies 10 stars and i'm not doing it to boost the overall rating. This movie just has some kind of special quality to it. I would say more but i don't want to do any <more> |
Pretty Freakin Gory (by sstntmn) |
this movie is freaking scary and i bet there are people making fun of me but i don't scare easily it is just scary seeing all that gore and to think that there may actually be a virus out there that can do this. Eli Roth makes a great debut performance and i give him 2 thumbs way UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. if u wanna just watch a movie and cant decide just go to the movie store and rent cabin fever and tell me how it is by posting your own comment. something i didn't like was the continuous use of the F word i mean it would have been way more enjoyable watching a great horror movie without <more> |
Why all the hate??? (by Nightman85) |
Wildly shocking and amusing debute film for young director Eli Roth is perhaps the best example of current old-school horror around!Five youths retreat to a cabin in rural North Carolina, where they come in contact with a deadly flesh-eating virus!Packed with tension, gore, psychological terror, and dark humor Cabin Fever is a knock-out of a horror film and very clever in its premise. Director/writer Eli Roth shows that he's a genre fan, making references to a number of classic horror films, not to mention using some of David Hess's original songs for Craven's Last House on the <more> |
Witness the Roth of Eli (by Mordimah) |
I was lucky enough to see Cabin Fever at a screening in Sydney where there was a Q&A session with director Eli Roth after the viewing. The film itself seemed to have many homages to the classic horror movies of the 70s/80s, which was reassuring. This director knows his film history, and knows how to share that knowledge without ever going overboard.Cabin Fever is relentlessly gory. And considering 'the killer' in this case is a flesh eating virus, it makes the film all the more entertaining and keeps your hands hovering over your eyes- with the occasional peek. There is just enough <more> |
Superb and misunderstood (by MartPol) |
Sadly maligned as 'average' on its UK release, Cabin Fever is in fact the best horror movie to have come out of Hollywood for years. A lot of people seem to be harping about its over-the-top action and general silliness, apparently not realising that this is the point - Cabin Fever is a black comedy. Filled with great, quirky characters and an interesting streak of sadism, it's an expert subversion of the horror genre.A little like My Little Eye another great recent film , the script-writer delights in killing off every one of the characters and cleverly inverting the standard <more> |
An unfairly judged cult flick (by ReelSplatter) |
This film has been unfairly judged! It is in fact a very good 80's style, Splatter, B-movie. It shys away from the self referencing humor plague that Scream started and succeeds in being a very strange splatter/comedy. Several reviews have been posted that say the characters are unlikable and do illogical things through the course of the movie. The characters are very good representations of the youth of the late 90's. The hunting squirrels joke is a perfect example. When asked why he is hunting the squirrels, the character replies, "Cause their gay". How many times have you <more> |
Very Gore With Potential of Cult-Movie (by claudio_carvalho) |
The college friends Paul Rider Strong , Karen Jordan Ladd , Bert James DeBello , Marcy Cerina Vincent and Jeff Joey Kern rent an isolated cabin in the woods to spend a week together. When they arrive, a man contaminated with a weird disease asks for help to them, but they get in panic and burn the man, who falls in the water reservoir and dies. The whole group, except Karen, makes a pact of drinking only beer along the week without knowing where the dead body is. When Karen drinks tap water and gets the disease, the group begins their journey to hell."Cabin Fever" is a <more> |
An unfairly criticised debut; it really is not that bad (by LoneWolfAndCub) |
Eli Roth's debut, Cabin Fever, seems to be hated by the majority on IMDb and many other critics. I, however, found this to be a rather enjoyable little film that just falls short of being great. To sum up this movie: take a bit of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a bit of The Evil Dead, a couple of elements from The Thing and Last House on the Left and you have Cabin Fever. A horror movie about five teenagers going to holiday in a cabin in the woods after college where the nearest town is filled with hicks and everything is slowly getting infected by an unknown virus which starts to turn <more> |
