Excellent, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat movie that's sort of like FATAL ATTRACTION (by Catherine_Grace_Zeh) |
A PERFECT MURDER, in my opinion, is an excellent, nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat movie that's sort of like FATAL ATTRACTION, only it's about what can happen when your spouse has an affair. If you ask me, Steven Michael Douglas was a rather slimy fellow, sort of. It's hard for me to remember why off the top of my head. However, if you ask me, he and Emily Gwyneth Paltrow looked very nice in the attire they wore to the play at the beginning of the movie. I really didn't like Emily's short hairdo, thought. Personally, I think Gwyneth Paltrow looks better with long hair. <more> |
a great movie all around. a perfect 10 (by reelred13) |
a well done thriller with good acting and a great look. Andrew Davis did a good job with the camera work and the over all look of the film. it looked clean and sleek and i loved it. the acting from everyone on the film was great too. |
A classy thriller (by Rodrigo_Amaro) |
A sense of class and sophistication prevails with dominance in this free remake of "Dial M for Murder" 1954 , qualities also present in the Hitchcock film but this one has a sexier and bold quality that appeals to current audiences. Whatever the case, both films are outstanding in their own ways. Simple and safe, without many complex layers to its plot, Michael Douglas plays a problematic yet controlled rich man who wants to kill his wife Gwyneth Paltrow and he asks her lover Viggo Mortensen to do the job, but it all gets messy when the man hires a third part for the task who <more> |
A Tension-Filled And Unpredictable Thriller (by Desertman84) |
This happens to be a remake of the Alfred Hitchcock 1954 classic "A Perfect Murder". Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen star in this suspense-filled thriller about a love triangle between a rich businessman, his wife and a struggling artist.A Wall Street businessman who is currently in financial trouble has a wife, who is currently committing adultery with a struggling artist. The business Steven Taylor knows about her wife Emily's affair with the artist named David Shaw.So he decides to plan the perfect murder of killing his wife with David as a co-conspirator <more> |
Call The M (by viamillitaris) |
This is almost the perfect plan of murder. Well...It's truth that money spins and Michael in this character was one of the rich businessman I hate the most. His company'd been ruined and his business, too. In that situation he felt that he was the man who had nothing to loose so he convinced her wife's lover ,who was pretending that he was the successful painter, to kill her. Guess, who was a guy, who had the law-full right to claim all of her money fond after her death. |
Thrilling well done remake (by davispittman) |
1998's A Perfect Murder is a remake of the 1950s Alfred Hitchcock film, Dial M for Murder. This movie is well written, directed, and very well acted. A special shout out goes to Michael Douglas and his starring performance, I would say that he was the best out of all the actors here. But that's certainly not discounting Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo, they were both very good too, I thought that Paltrow was particularly well casted as Emily Taylor, and Viggo was pretty good as David, not the absolute best performance I've ever seen, but good enough. The script and the dialogue between <more> |
Much Better Than The Original (by ccthemovieman-1) |
Boy, here's one re-make I thought was far superior to the original. The latter was "Dial M For Murder," with Ray Milland, Grace Kelly and Bob Cummings. In this film, the stars are Michael Douglas, Gwyneth Paltrow and Viggo Mortensen. The best part of this film may not be the story, or the acting, both of which keep you glued to the screen, but the stylish photography and sets. They look magnificent, mainly the apartment of the the two leads. I was constantly awed by how good this film looks.I also prefer the sequel because it has more twists and is complex enough to thoroughly <more> |
A passable remake of Hicthcock's ‘Dial M for Murder' (by MIKE-WILSON6) |
A Perfect Murder a loose remake of ‘Dial M for Murder is astylish thriller in its own right ,but doesn't come close to theoriginal. As I remember and not to give away any of the plot, ‘Dial‘M' is all about the key. Where it is hidden, Who knew it was there, and who finds it. This plot line is gripping, but in ‘Perfect Murder'this whole part of the story has been overlooked. Having said thatthe film still works quite well, thanks to Michael Douglas. He reallyis superb. Gwyneth Palthrow looks stunning, but David Suchet iswasted as the detective. But where the film really <more> |
More Than Just A Remake Of An Old Movie (by seymourblack-1) |
This stylish 90's thriller about a love triangle that turns murderous was based on Frederick Knott's play "Dial M For Murder" which was also the inspiration for Alfred Hitchcock's movie of the same name . Patrick Smith Kelly's screenplay updates the action, relocates it from London to New York and features enough plot twists to keep most viewers fully engaged throughout. The interactions between the characters at the centre of the story involve a toxic mixture of jealousy, lust, deception and blackmail which inevitably adds to the tensions which exist between them <more> |
