Nice Little Xmas Anthology!! (by victorseay) |
This is a well made, well played and worthwhile Xmas horror film IMO. The cast is great and the writing is good and the effects are top notch....plus you have killer zombie elves and Krampus and......SHATNER!!! This is another of the films that spawned during the "Krampus" craze last holiday season. This is one of the better ones. It is set in the same town that the "Ginger Snaps" movie was set in and the stories are all connected somewhat. Shatner plays a DJ who has the Xmas spirit in spades while all around him in his town....well....some crazy stuff is going on.....and <more> |
STAY BACK JINGLES! (by nogodnomasters) |
This is the same film which has the PC cover title "A Holiday Horror Story" being sold in Walmart. The film opens with 4-5 subplots and each builds slowly until the stories are connected, even if loosely connected.1 The first subplot consists of Santa George Buza and his wife Marta Debra McCabe getting ready for Christmas when an elf zombie outbreak happens. "Stay back Jingles!" 2 Dangerous Dan William Shatner is a radio host on Christmas eve. He brings in the Christmas spirit by saying things like "Let's throw another eggnog on the fire." There is an <more> |
Don't be fooled... (by stole86) |
...by Santa. Went into this film without prior seeing the trailer or knowing anything at all about it, and I suggest you do the same. It's not your average Christmas themed comedy-horror we're all used to expect. Аs a matter of fact the light moments, little as they are, can't shift this one away from the horror genre. Unlike Krampus 2015 which I saw the other day and is waaay below this one. The good - likable characters, chilly atmosphere, great cinematography up to expectations that is The bad - was expecting a light-hearted movie, got scared! Get ready for some spooky <more> |
A pleasant surprise (by sprouty) |
Let me start by saying I like generally horror films - not so much the torture films "Hostel", "Saw" etc - but things like "The Thing", "Halloween Original " The Exorcist, "It Follows", & "The Ring". So I was always gonna watch this because I also like William Shatner & Christmas. I was expecting this film was going to rate 5 or 6 but because it exceeded my expectations so much I am giving it a hefty 9.It's better shot, acted and written than the average shocker. The film nicely interweaves 4 stories and a semi-story of <more> |
Fun Comedy Horror film (by nymeria-meliae) |
This was a great fun film. I am at a loss as to how one reviewer can claim that there are better Christmas horror films out there... name one... Gremlins? Rare Exports? Nightmare before Christmas? I wouldn't say any of those was better than this film... perhaps on par with it. Basically, when it comes to Christmas horror you have a choice between slasher or comedy horror... this falls into the latter category.Don't approach this film expecting lots of slasher gore... if ever a type of film was mislabeled it is the slasher films... 90% of those films should be classified as thrillers <more> |
A surprisingly great film! (by emberstonepierce) |
To be honest, I didn't expect much from this title and only thought I'd give it a watch because there was nothing else on. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised and found it a very well made movie with some great casting and cinematography. There are so many cheesy, novelty, horror films released which center around a particular season or holiday and they seem to be mainly low budget affairs which aren't worth watching. This is a well made collection of stories which all interconnect and come together dramatically at the finale. William Shatner is a great boon and brings <more> |
Santa, Ghosts, Demons, Krampus and Zombie Elves Celebrate a Very Scary Christmas!!! (by Pumpkin_Man) |
Christmas Horror Story will definitely become a holiday cult classic sometime down the road along with Black Christmas and Silent Night Deadly Night. This is the Christmas equivalent to Trick 'r Treat. There are four different interwoven stories. This review will contain some spoilers! The first story is pretty weak. It's about a group of teenagers investigating the school's basement. A year prior, there were some murders. The teens get locked in and forced to deal with a ghost. The second story is a little better and creepier; a family goes into a forest to find the perfect <more> |
Much, much better than I expected (by Colin_Sibthorpe_II) |
When I saw a plot summary mentioning Santa killing zombie elves, my instant reaction was thanks, but no thanks. It was lucky I did decide to give it a try because it turned out very good. The build-up of atmosphere, horror and suspense was so skillful I thought they could never deliver on so much promise. They did though, with every story tied up neatly and ingeniously. |
